Malinois Running

Solo comes from a long line of top performance (French Ring/Schutzhund) dogs including Viris, Snap, Clip, Qu’Rack and others.  Not only were these dogs important foundation sires for many of today’s Malinois, but they and their handlers helped define and create the Protection Sports that we know today.  True to his blood, Solo has an enormous drive to work, coupled with a high desire to please; we find him to be extremely easy to train to any task, game, or venture that we undertake.  Currently this involves running 80-100 miles each week with 3 people who train for marathons in our neighborhood.  He provides companionship and imposing security as an athletic partner who is always eager to go whether it’s day or night, regardless of the weather, or how much he’s already run that week/day/hour-in short, he’s the ideal running companion!  He loves to play, and will initiate games with glee-a ball (or any round object) will drive him crazy!  He has strong (and appropriate) protection instincts, and never shows fear.  He loves people, including children and other animals, and exhibits a happy, confident, energetic attitude that is his trademark. Physically, Solo has moderate bone, being neither too heavy nor too light, with a gorgeous thick mahogany red coat.  He has a thin white mark on his chest (Cupid’s dart)  and full dentition with a natural, deep scissors bite.  He stands squarely; his chest is deep and topline level.  His movement is free and effortless, a tireless float at the trot that he can maintain for hours.  Many judges have complemented me on Solo’s condition and movement, but it is truely his loving and stable temperament that is his best feature.

Tart is an extremely elegant female who has proven her abilities to pass on her best traits to her offspring.  Tart’s friendly, loving nature is most obvious with people she knows, but given an opportunity, she demands attention from everyone (like the reigning Queen she is!)  Like Solo, Tart’s ancestors are also illustrious, containing some of the most outstanding performance dogs in the conformation and obedience/herding rings.  Her pedigree is full of International, American and BISS CHs including River, Lanaeken Sam, O’Neill,Rick and Jiska, many of whom also added herding and obedience titles to their names.  She exhibits a very playful nature, quickly finding items to turn into toys (even if they didn’t start out that way!) and eliciting other dogs and people to participate in her games.  She taught all her puppies to play, and they still enjoy playing with their mother, even as adults.  While Tart has a warm and friendly nature, she is also stringent about guarding and protecting her property and people, showing a high degree of intelligence about who, what and when such behavior is appropriate. Tart’s energy and determination was channeled into herding, where she showed great aptitude, easily earning her PT title.  Physically, Tart is of moderate to light bone, fawn in color, with no white markings.  Her eyes are darker than Solo’s, more almond shaped, and her ears-ah, those lovely, delicate, beautiful, gorgeous ears!  Her entire head is more refined and chiseled than many Malinois, both because she is female and because of her ancestry/breeding.  She has an elegant arched neck and slightly longer body.  Her movement is very fluid, with driving reach, nice length in the stride, and she has excellent stamina.

This litter is planned to produce Performance Malinois of exquisite breed type and balance with stable dispositions.  Movement and temperament are two things both owners are certain will be preserved and enhanced with this breeding.  We expect healthy, high-energy pups that are eager to work, beautiful to behold and structurally sound.  Versatility is the hallmark of this litter. We believe that with this combination of parents, who have proven their suburb abilities in multiple venues and are the culmination of centuries of working champions, these puppies will have the potential to excel.  Our goal is to produce balanced dogs of correct structure so that they can perform for many years as healthy companions.  We expect happy, outgoing temperaments coupled with extraordinary drive and determination.

WARNING: A Malinois is not the ideal pet for everyone, and a Malinois puppy (while adorable) quickly becomes a boisterous teenager that requires sensitive, consistent guidance and constant socialization to fully realize its potential.  Rarely do Malinois make good pets for the beginning pet owner.  Furthermore, Belgians are a slow maturing breed, often requiring 2-4 years to develop good sense and complete reliability, to expect otherwise may lead to disappointment.  Please know what you are getting yourself (and your family) into for the next 10-15 years before selecting any Belgian, particularly a puppy.  We seek wonderful, forever homes for our dogs where they will be active members of their families. They will not do well ignored in the yard or seperated for long periods from their family. If you do not intend to spend a good part of each day with your dog, then please do not consider one of our puppies!  A Malinois lives to be your constant companion, seeking only to be a shadow at your side, to breathe in your presence, and fulfill your desires.  The brief time in the ring spent as a performance athlete and champion, while exhilarating, will be but a moment compared to a full life of living with and loving a Malinois, so be sure that you are picking the right dog for the right reasons.  Excellent young, mature Malinois are frequently available through Malinois Rescue.  The breeders would enjoy helping you to find an older companion through this great resource if that is what you seek.

Inquires on our “Fortune” litter are welcome, priority and discounts to performance homes.
We require all puppies (companions as well as performance prospects) to have OFA hips/elbows done and eyes CERF.  If you are unfamiliar with these important health checks, please ask us why we feel they are necessary and our committment to enhancing the overall Belgian Malinois breed.   Prospective owners must complete an extensive puppy questionnaire so that we may best determine if we can meet your expectations with one of our puppies.  Deposits will be required to reserve a puppy after receipt of questionnaire and review of preliminary contract.  The litter has been bred, puppies are anticipated to be whelped the first week of June, available to go to their new homes 8 weeks later, approximately early August.  We release no puppies prior to 8 weeks of age.   Breeders are proud to support the ABMC Breeders Code of Ethics, and expect to maintain contact and provide support throughout the life of the puppy they have created.

New puppy owners will receive:
