Meet the Dogs!

Our dogs love to travel, so living a jet-setting lifestyle is no problem for these canine adventurers! Due to changes in travel schedules and life events, PLEASE BE SURE TO CONFIRM WITH STEPH THAT THEY WILL BE ATTENDING AND BRINGING THE DOGS TO ANY EVENT.  We cannot stress enough that anything can (and does) happen to upset the best-laid plans and intentions!  We would hate to have someone drive to a show or city anticipating on seeing one of our dogs only to disappoint you with their absence.  Please let us know if you are planning on coming, and what time you anticipate arriving, so we can arrange to meet you-a show is still a big place and we'd hate to miss you simply because we left early or you couldn't find us amongst all the other sights to see!

Solo and Whoopi will be at the ABMC National Specialty in McClellan, CA from Tuesday, April 21 through Sunday, April 26, 2009.  The National Specialty is THE show to see Malinois of all types.  This is the one show a year where you will see the most, the best, and all of them doing the many things our versatile breed is so well-known for!  If there is only one show you can attend a year, you can't go wrong going to your breed's Specialty, every dog breed has a National Specialty, and this one is for the Belgian Malinois.  Steph is running the Hospitality room, so drop by any time.

UPDATE: Solo won Best Veteran Dog and Best Veteran in Sweepstakes!  It was a miracle to have my partner back at my side, so especially rewarding to have him healthy enough to show again! Whoopi was shown by my son in the Honor Parade, and both did an wonderful job-hard to say who was prouder-me, him or her!

EMERGENCY HEALTH UPDATE: March, 2009.  Solo developed Diskospondylitis (a spinal infection) from an enlarged prostate gland (it was the size of a grapefruit!).  He was losing his ability to stand, walk, or move, and causing partial paralysis of unknown duration.  Upon diagnosis, treatment consisted of massive antibiotics to treat the infection, neutering to reduce the prostate, and 6 weeks crate rest to allow the damaged nerves a chance to heal.  There went our breeding plans, but my immediate concern was for the life and health of my dog! Once he recovered from the surgery and his natural exhuberence returned, he hated the enforced rest, and destroyed everything he could reach but I'm pleased to say that each day his mobility and agility increases.  Only time will tell to what degree he may have suffered permanent nerve damage.

Solo will be at the Golden Gate Kennel Club show, Cow Palace, Daly City, Jan 24 & 25, 2009.  This is a "Benched Show", which means the dogs are required to remain on their benches for viewing from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm both days.  Over 10,000 visitors come each day, and it's crazy busy!  This is a great opportunity to see a lot of dogs, and talk to lots of breeders, but we may be too busy to talk at length!  Our benching site is in the North Hall, there are 5 Malinois entered, and we show at:

UPDATE: Solo won Best Veteran on Saturday, but was pulled from showing on Sunday.  He was having trouble walking, the footing was very slippery, and I pulled him for safety reasons.  He enjoyed meeting the many people at the show

Solo and Tart were at the Northern California Herding Group show, Friday, Oct. 24, 2008 at the Dixon May Fairgrounds, Dixon, CA.  Solo WAS entered as a Veteran on Friday, Oct. 24.  (He's retired from active showing, so he doesn't enter the ring too often any more) Tart accompanied us back to our home, where we had hoped she would come in season.  Unfortunately, she did not come in while with us, and although we loved having her, Barbara missed her so she went home again in December. UPDATE: Solo won Best of Breed at the ABMC supported show from the Veterans group.  He also had his eyes re-CERF'd and another semen collection while Tart had her Thyroid checked for her OFA results.  While with us, Tart had her hips x-rayed for evaluation in the PennHip method, and the vet said they were "the best he's ever seen!" RESULTS: Tart's thyroid is "Normal", and her PennHip evaluation breed index score is 90%-she is in the top 10% of all Belgian Malinois!  Solo's CERF exam remains normal.

By Appointment-Both owners live and work in CA.  It is possible the dogs will or can be in your area soon, just call us with your suggestion for a possible meeting and we will see what we can accomplish.
