"Flame"

Baby Belgian Malinois on beach

It seems as if we have been waiting for Flame for such a long time, and now she's finally here, she looks at me with a perpetual expression of "well, let's get this party started!". After almost 2 years of trying to breed my male, Solo, to Flame's mother, Tart, we finally admitted that litter was not meant to be.  By this time, I was in love with Tart and more convinced than ever that I needed one of her pups, so I leaped at the chance to have a puppy from her litter with Idol in 2009, bred by Tart's co-owner, Sue Haase.

Like most Belgians, Flame has been a handful to manage, but so quick to learn and a bright and eager student!  She loves her big "brother" Solo, but Whoopi doesn't really see any use for her in our family and has taught her to respect a 6' "no trespassing" zone!  Flame needs supervision for her baby energies so she doesn't become destructive-ensuring she isn't left alone for long, channeling her abundant energy into approved activities and giving her plenty of exercise to tire her out is how I manage her typical Belgian enthusiasm .  At 6 months she knows a steady recall, sit, down, spin and roll-over, plus she's a retrieving fool and loves to work for food and a toy.  She's great with people, dogs and children, and we look forward to competing in agility, rally, obedience and conformation with her.
